Anyone with a browser could find them and access whatever those agents were connected to, including files, email accounts, and stored credentials.
The vulnerability problems went deeper from there.
Researchers confirmed that one critical vulnerability (CVE-2026-25253) could enable a full takeover of an OpenClaw instance in milliseconds. This was triggered by a victim simply visiting a single malicious webpage.
When OpenClaw is connected to corporate tools like Slack or Google Workspace, an attacker can access emails, calendar entries, cloud-stored documents, and OAuth tokens without triggering traditional security alerts.
There was also a supply chain problem.
Kaspersky reported that malicious add-ons appeared in OpenClaw’s public skill marketplace, disguised with professional-looking documentation and innocent-sounding names. Some installed keyloggers on Windows machines. Others opened backdoors.
The tool’s persistent memory compounded everything. Any data the agent accessed once remained available across every future session.
