Windows 10 Upgrade

Windows 10 Upgrade – Not necessarily a missed opportunity

Windows 10

You might remember way back Microsoft offered a free upgrade to Windows 10. All you needed was a current valid licensed OS running Windows 7 or 8.1. That free upgrade offer expired on July 29, 2016 and anyone who wanted to upgrade after that date would be on the hook for the full price of the OS (roughly $119 if Home edition and a little more if Pro).

While Microsoft doesn’t promote this you can still upgrade for free. All you need to do is go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and either run the “Update Now” option OR create an installation media. The installation media option is a cleaner choice and since it involves wiping your entire hard drive why not take that opportunity to upgrade your hard drive to an SSD? Replacing your traditional hard drive with an SSD has far surpassed the previous easiest performance booster which was to upgrade RAM.

Imagine turning on your PC to boot and it only taking about 15-20 seconds…it’s heaven and an upgrade you would never regret.
